Infertility has been a special research interest for Dr. Barreth since residency.  They offer a full range of infertility investigations and treatments appropriate for our secondary regional area of Northwestern Alberta and Northeastern BC.  They work in close collaboration with tertiary Infertility Clinics throughout the province. It is important that your partner try to attend your first consultation so a thorough and complete consultation can be done and appropriate investigations initiated. 

Preliminary investigations typically involve assessment of four areas: 

1. Assessment of ovulation-the ability of the ovaries to make eggs.

2. Assessment of semen-the amount and ability to act to its full potential. 

3. Assessment of the tubal patency-ability of the eggs to travel through the fallopian tubes. 

4. Assessment of the presence of pelvic disease preventing pregnancy.
